I just bought the merc pack. So I have a BPO for caldari assault. My main char is also caldari. So in theory, I get the tiny racial bonuses, if I used it.
However, I'm not seeing much benefit to it over just using the free militia "assault" fits for caldari. Would you good folks educate me please?
So far, i'm looking at stats, and see:
- a TEENIE bit more power - faster shield regen on base (okay thats good) - an extra low slot?
Fringe benefits: I wouldnt be forced to equip something in the "Equipment" slot. But, I'll miss out on all the other freebie stuff the militia suit provides. (yes I'm a cheapskate :) )
Any other comments?

yeah, but the same thing is true about the militia fit, and THAT comes with free weapons on top of it.

XANDER KAG wrote:Trust me you wont miss the 3k per suit if you choose to fit it. Besides the militia suit wont let you fit a plate and a rep, you will want both. Because the moment your shields go down your even more screwed if you don't have a plate, however you wont last long if you never get that health back will you?
GIven the current "TTK" oF CQC, having plate added, will extend my lifespan from 2.0 seconds, to 2.2 seconds. I'm not feeing the love, i'm afraid :-/
To hydraSlav: Even if you train them, they're something stupidsmall like 2% per level. Even if you get it up to level 5, at crazyhigh levels of SP.. thats.. 10% of 25 = 2.5. So.. change from "25", to "27.5".
I dont see that as a "pretty big bonus" :(

Not sure what choice of weapon has to do with uch.
Im still experimenting. Sometimes AR, sometimes scrambler rifle. Sometimes sniper.

To OP: It's all about the second low slot. Huge percentage HP gain with a basic plate.
With scanning the way it is, I think I'll end up using it for the low slot.. but I'm going to put in a dampener rather than HP. The HP isnt worth it, until I skilled up much higher, I think.

Don't bother with a dampener unless it's ADV with skill 3. Otherwise, you won't be able to hide from even STD scanners.
Thanks for pointing that out. However, funnily enough, if you have profile dampening skill 3, you can then get away with a militia damp, if my math is correct.
55 * (.98 x3) * .85 = 44, which is less than 46
putting in an advanced, wont get you under the next tier, so it's not worth it for medium suits.. And of course, logi suits would be fine with a militia dampener, whether or not you have skill in damping :p |

Thought I'd give some feedback after using it for a while.
I had never realy though/noticed just how big a difference the shield regen is. 25HP/sec, vs .. what. 15?
The difference seems HUUUGE!! I can actually get most, if not all, of my shields back now, when i duck into cover, before the enemy finds me again. I'm actually surviving more! :D Just for the shield regen, I find it worthwhile.
So i thoroughly recommend assault over militia. Whether you have to skill into it, or buy a BPO. reminder to others: its the same as caldari medium suit, but cheaper. Due to price, I dont recommend medium suit though!
